The question I get asked the most is “What are the best sales tips you can give me that I can put in place today?”. That’s a tricky question because it depends on who’s asking. However, there are 5 solid rules to follow in your sales process that will never let you down. See below…
1. It’s never about what you say. It’s all about what your prospect believes.
You can have the greatest sales presentation in the world, but if the customer doesn’t believe you, then you don’t have a chance. Ask yourself “Do I believe in my company, products, and services?”. If you want others to buy in, it starts with you.
2. Have a dedicated time set aside either daily or weekly to do your prospecting. (for those in the back… SET TIME ASIDE!)
Too many small business owners find themselves spending far too much time doing everything else but selling/prospecting. If it’s not scheduled, it ain’t happening.
3. Believe in yourself and what you’re doing to help your clients.
There’s a reason why confident business owners and/or salespeople are more successful. Why should anyone buy anything from anybody if the seller doesn’t even believe in it?
4. Show up and show up on time.
When I was in the Marine Corps we had a rule – 15 minutes early is on time. On time is late.
Did you know most salespeople don’t do what they say they’re going to do? And a lot of them (people in general) are late to meetings all the time. This is super unprofessional.
5. Never go into a sales call not knowing how you’re going to close the sale.
If you don’t know where you’re going, then how will you get there? The most common part left out of any presentation is the close. Plan for it upfront by developing the strategy and your course of action.
This does not mean you’re only going to use one type of closing technique. On the contrary, it means you’re going to be ready to close using several different techniques based on what the customer tells you.
There Are No Silver Bullets
Sorry, if you were looking for a silver bullet – you probably didn’t find it in the post. That’s because there are no silver bullets – just lots and lots of lead ones!
